Personalized Calendar from Printo.in
Last week, I shopped online for the first time. I want to make a photo calendar. I tried with iPhoto on Mac, but have to order prints from US. So I looked for a provider in India and came across printo.in
Printo is printing services located in Bangalore. They have a pretty decent site to order the products. I selected the photos and started using their web application. I was using FirFox on Mac (no IE), which it didn’t like. The process is like this, you upload the photos, select the calendar type, assign photos to months, tell how many calendars you want and then pay. I had problem with uploading photos through the Java applet. So I tried with IE in another machine which also didn’t work. After few hours fighting with various options, Safari browser on Mac worked. I uploaded all the images and assigned to the months. It took me around 2 hrs to complete this. Then I proceeded to order the prints, when their credit card acceptance page provided by ICICI didn’t work. I tried few times hoping it will work. I was using my ICICI card only, but no luck. Overall I was frustrated with this and shot an message on their feedback page.
To my surprise, I immediately got a reply from their Online Manager Anuradha. She asked my account information to process the order offline, which I sent out. She also suggested to go for landscape size as the photos will look good in that size, which is very nice. She followed up with the request and called me to tell that they will ship the calendars and I can send the payment later. Calendars came in time for the new year and looked very good. It is also a big surprise for the family to see the calendar.
I am impressed with their customer service, but they can improve their website a lot in the usability as well as the functional perspective.
